Trisha Baga - Winter’s Springs

Galería Marta Cervera is pleased to announce Winter’s Springs, the first solo presentation of Trisha Baga’s work in Spain, and her second exhibition with the gallery. On view at Calle Valencia 28, Madrid, from May 23, 2019 – July 31, 2019.
Trisha Baga (b. 1985, Venice, Florida) lives and works in New York.
In her installations, video projections illuminate and obscure a tableau of sculptures, furniture, and scavenged detritus from the world outside. Her repertoire of digital and analog techniques, from painting and ceramics to 3D video, are layered in cinematic essays and sculptural collages that draw from science fiction, art history, and her collaborative projects. Products of her endless experimentation, her work vibrates between disarray and harmony to react to contemporary conditions of living and making. For Winter’s Springs, the artist presents a new installation— including a 3D video remix of material from an explosive, funny, and intimate musical performance she organized at MoMA PS1 as a part of the International Space Station ceramics sale fundraiser—as well as a series of new paintings of acrylic gestures on lenticular prints.
Trisha Baga studied at The Cooper Union School of Art and received her masters from the Mil-ton Avery School of the Arts at Bard College. Her work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at The Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts, Harvard, Cambridge; The Zabludowicz Collection, London; Dundee Contemporary Arts, Dundee; Kunstverein Munich, Munich; and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; as well as being included in group exhibitions at the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles; The Whit- ney Museum of American Art, New York; Kunst-Werke, Berlin; among many others. In 2020, she presents a solo exhibition of new work at the Pirelli HangarBicocca, Milan.

La Galería Marta Cervera se complace en anunciar Winter’s Springs, la primera presentación individual de la obra de Trisha Baga en España y su segunda exposición con la Galería Marta Cervera. La exposición tendrá lugar en la calle Valencia 28, Madrid, del 23 de mayo de 2019 al 31 de julio de 2019.
Trisha Baga (n. 1985, Venice, Florida) vive y trabaja en Nueva York.
En sus instalaciones, las proyecciones de video iluminan y oscurecen un cuadro de esculturas, muebles y objetos extraídos del mundo exterior. Su repertorio de técnicas digitales y analógicas, desde la pintura y la cerámica hasta el video en 3D, está compuesto de ensayos cinematográ cos y collages escultóricos que se basan en la ciencia cción, la historia del arte y sus proyectos de colaboración. Producto de su experimentación sin n, su trabajo vibra entre el desorden y la armonía para re exionar sobre las condiciones contemporáneas de la vida. Para Winter’s Springs, la artista presenta una nueva instalación, que incluye un remix de video en 3D de una actuación musical explosiva, divertida e íntima que organizó en el MoMA PS1 como parte de la recaudación de fondos para la venta de cerámica de la Estación Espacial Internacional, así como una serie de nuevas pinturas de gestos acrílicos sobre estampados lenticulares.
Trisha Baga estudió en The Cooper Union School of Art y cursó su máster en la Milton Avery School of the Arts at Bard College.
